Why should you apply to be a Mentor?...

Because MENTORING is important!

Mentoring is much more than coaching and counseling.  It’s about building strong and reliable relationships, having enjoyable people around that can help you deal with frustration and behave with humility and compassion.

​Requirements of a Mentor
  • Mentors shall be defined as Junior or Senior undergraduates enrolled in a degree program at NC State.

  • Complete the Mentor Application by the deadline. 

  • Mentors must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.25.

Mentor Expectations
  • Contact assigned Mentees once a week outside of CMA events. If a Mentee is having difficulty, additional visits may be requested within reason.

  • Participation in the workshops when required in order to foster a comfortable environment for the mentees. If mentor cannot attend a workshop, it must must clear it with the Membership Chair or President beforehand.

  • Attend activities and any other meetings or functions deemed necessary by Executive Committee.

  • Refer any Mentees having difficulties to appropriate university services and resources.

  • Carry out all duties promptly and responsibly with honesty and integrity and to honor confidential information.

  • Accept constructive feedback and notify the Executive Committee of any extenuating circumstances that interfere with performing Mentor duties.
